Mars
In Mars class, the teaching is based around early year’s foundation and key stage 1 of the national curriculum. It is topic based ensuring links throughout English, Maths and Science, as well as using differentiation for the individual needs of the students.
Our class curriculum is based on a combination of academic and life skill learning, so that the students develop meaningful and functional knowledge and skills that will support them in adult life. Cooking, ICT, art, phonics, handwriting, reading and RSHE also form part of the weekly timetable with the work matching the EHCP targets for each student.
The curriculum is enriched with outing and visits within the community, providing opportunities for new experiences and skills. These are a key part of the week to enabling students to learn social and communication skills with their peers and the community in environments outside of the school.
